(book 1 of a series)
by Lauren Kate
There is so much to this story and I love the build up, it is just how I enjoy my reads and I think that is why I love this one so much. I happen to be a series lover and really look forward to the next, and the next book. Maybe it is because I am a collector of things, maybe it is because with a really great story, one book can never be enough. Lauren Kate is a very skilled writer and although this book is suggested for high school age reading, it is a mature read. I am way past my high school years and I completely related with the characters and was able to let myself get lost into the story. If you are a fan of YA and or this genre, including angels, paranormal, and romance, I think you will enjoy this book too.
The synopsis offered really sums it up so there is no point for me to go over the outline of the story again. I do disagree with other reviews I have read that the book falls short of anything. It is clearly written as a series and the reader must take into consideration that a third book to this one is coming out mid 2011. So, when you pick this one up, take note that it really is only a beginning.
Although the reviews and ratings at Amazon.com were not all that great, I still had a yearning to read this book. This is one of my favorite genres and I seem to be on a YA reading frenzy right now. It is not a disappointment to me. I have enjoyed reading this book and I am really looking forward to the next book "Torment".
And, the third book of this series is coming in 2011
Suggested reading audience is grades 8 - 12
A Second Read:
I enjoyed my first read and would recommend it. This is
one I could include in a swap, or gift.
My reading is a borrowed book from my Library.
